Eligibility for Ensembles

 Students will be admitted by audition and allowed to continue to participate in the program for the following year based on their work and performance in previous seasons. Admission decisions also take into account needs for forming ensembles with commensurate playing ability. Most Chamber Players students are in middle or high school. Players are more likely to be admitted if they are at Suzuki Book 6 or above, and are entering 6th-12th grade. Students with previous experience playing in string ensembles are more likely to be admitted.

Auditions requirements:
Strings:

  • A major and minor scale of your choice (3 octaves for violinists and violists)

  • A polished solo, no more than 2-3 minutes in length (neither accompaniment nor memorization required)

Piano:

  • A major and minor scale of your choice (one in octaves and one in thirds)

  • Two contrasting solo selections, 2-3 minutes in length
